Projects on the Farm

Read on for a brief overview of all of the amazing things we are getting into at Charlotte's Web Farm!

Rainwater Catchment

Charlotte’s Web is entirely irrigated with rainwater! This is thanks to multiple grants with support from  Community Alliance for Family Farmers. We have five 5,000 gallons tanks and two 2,500 tanks. This allows us to restore the land and feed people from the natural flow of the rain. Not here to exploit the land, we are here to steward it. Wildlife Habitat Basin (AKA Not-A-Pond)

We got a grant from the Drought Relief Grant through the Community Alliance of Family Farmers through earthworks to slow, spread and sink the bountiful water that seasonally falls out of the sky. Instead of sending it to the storm drain, we keep it here… and we have plenty of water no matter the season. We are restoring the water table.

WOOFers & Volunteers

People have come to Charlotte’s Web over the years, called to the land. Often people are burned out from corporate jobs or the rush of urban life. The farm has about 15 guests a summer for short and long stays. If you are interested in WOOFing at Charlotte’s Web, please see our listing here.

Pollinators

We have pledged to set aside a third of an acre for three years to specifically tend to plants that support pollinators. The third berm that goes across the entire farm is full of specially chosen, native plants that support diverse butterfly species in our area, including 144 milkweed plants to nurture the monarch butterflies. This project was made possible through a grant from Monarch Joint Venture

Bees

Speaking of pollinators, there is also a beehive on the farm! A local friend’s retirement project has turned into a pollination station bees are living their best life nurturing the flora all around us.

Sharing Food

We participate in a food giveaway in Occidental, it’s the oldest one in Sonoma County. Every second Tuesday of the month, Charlotte gathers produce from the neighborhood. We also work with Farm-to-Pantry.
