Hands-On Workshop:
Seasonal Food Preservation
Our workshops bring neighbors together to learn simple, practical ways to preserve seasonal food. We cover basic canning, quick pickling, and lacto-fermentation like sauerkraut and kimchi, as well as making fruit chutneys, fire-roasted salsas, and dried herb blends. Come gain new kitchen skills and take home your own jars of handmade goods!
Wise Occidental Women
Wise Occidental Women (WOW) meet twice monthly. During each gathering elder neighbors either discuss a local issue (aging in place, fire resilience etc.), provide support for nonprofits/food drives/cooking fundraisers, or enjoy some crafting or food preservation together.
Firesafe Occidental Meetings
The farm hosts Firesafe Occidental’s Leadership Council meetings as well as quarterly neighborhood gatherings. Firesafe Occidental is a volunteer-run resource for creating a connected and fire-resilient community in and around the Occidental area.

Annual Wreath Making
Our annual wreath making workshop is a favorite seasonal tradition on the farm! We come together to build custom wreaths using a variety of fresh greens, dried botanicals, and natural accents. No prior crafting experience is needed—we'll guide you step-by-step so you can relax, create, and bring home a festive handmade wreath.
Hands-On Workshop: Biochar
With Gray Shaw of Black Ripple: we hosted community and burned conservation piles as well as saw Gary's kiln in action. An educational workshop on what biocar is, it's useful properties as a soil amendment, how to make it and how to use it!
